When you are on the Internet, Call Waiting can cause problems. When you are on the normal phone call to a friend or colleague if another call comes through you will hear a beep on the line. When you're on the Internet you won't hear this beep. The only way you will know if there was a call trying to come through is if you are disconnected. How long it takes for your modem to disconnect will determine if you miss the call or not. The better the quality of the modem the more likely it is that Call Waiting will go unnoticed. The solution in any case is to disable Call Waiting.
